The New York State government recently legalized gay marriage.
Male homosexuality is about as unhealthy as heroin usage. Nevertheless, our state government has decided to celebrate it, apparently for no other reason than to demonstrate their sympathy for a minority group and to emphasize their rejection of the Bible, which prohibits sodomy. If people die, that's just collateral damage.
Great work guys. This may lower costs for Social Security and Medicare, but then don't forget about the higher health care costs of male homosexuals.

the bible tells us a lot of things are prohibited. why do you take issue with this one prohibition?
further, what if someone does not believe in the bible? how can you force that person to adhere to your rules? how would you respond if someone else decided you should be bound by THEIR laws?

You see my point is that many atheists have criticized monotheists for prohibiting sodomy. Why would God cruely prevent two consenting adults from loving each other? Aren't sodomy laws, universal until 1970, just as unjust and cruel as anti-black or anti-Jewish laws?

Homosexuality is prohibited for Jews but it is not prohibited for non-jews. This is simiar to the prohibition of eating shellfish for Jews but permissible for non-Jews. So, clearly the aids virus couldn't be god's vengance, since non-jews may engage in sodomy to their hearts content.

Clearly, that prohibition was constructed by the rabbis. But torah true jews recognize that god did not mean to include sodomy or incest or almost any torah-prohibited sexual infraction.
Thus, you are wrong. Gentiles may engage in sodomy as much as they wish without any fear of retribution.

you will notice that the people of Sodom, who were gentiles by the way, seemed to received a little retribution.
The biblical story in Sdom seems to refer to violent sexual assault, ie rape. Not specifically the homosexual relations.
In any case, the Talmudic opinion is that even mutually agreed sodomy is prohibited even for Gentiles. Today we know the medical wisdom of that.

I wish to reply to your recent post concerning the legalization of same sex marriage in New york. The issue is of especial personal significane as a frum gay Yid.
Firstly, I concur that the enactment of this initiative was largely actuated by empathy with a perceived oppressed minority. However, history has demonstrated that efforts to aid often exacerbate existing problems or create new concerns. As a Negro, I observe daily with sadness and frustration the injurious impact on the Negro community by programs andd pllicies that were designed to promote the uplift of my race (e.g. civil rights laws, affirmative measures, social welfare mechanisms).
Secondly, the legalization of same sex marriage communicates to the most impressionable members of our society (children and adolescents) the permissibility of homosexuality. This is the primary objective of gay askanim: the acceptance of homosexuality by the general community. Parents, educators and religious leaders, both Jewish and Gentile, must intensify their efforts to insulate their charges against gay propaganda.
Thirdly, I disagree that the appropriate response is to prohibit gay marriage. As one who would characterize himself as a liberterian I oppose government efforts to regulate the activities of consenting adults, unless such activity does injury or damage to others. For that reason I support the decriminalization of such enterprises as prostitution, pornography and narcotics. Likewise, marriage is not within the purview of the government. Civil marriage should be abolished. Until relatively recently, marriage was within the jurisdiction of religious authorities and that should be resumed. I shoul not require the permission of the state to marry, just as I should not require the leave of the state to drive a motor vehicle, form a corporation, practice medicine, own a gun or operate a hot dog stand.

Wow. Well done, sir. I can just tell that you are writing this because you really care about the health of people. And not because you're trying to force people to live according to your insane fundamental beliefs about an imaginary guy in the sky and an old book he supposedly endorses.
Who cares if people have to be routinely discriminated against because they are doing something as beautiful and pure as wanting to marry the person they TRULY love? As long as a couple less people get AIDS. And that's all you care about, isn't it?

I don't think that legitimatizing and sanctifying sodomy makes more sense than doing so for heroin. Where are the Junkie Pride Parades? Don't you know that addiction is hereditary? They're born that way.
