I love trilobites

I just bought this on the web for $30 and I’m keeping it on my desk at work. It’s a rock that contains an imprint of an insect that lived in Utah about 500 million years ago. I think the symmetry and detail are beautiful.

Personally, this doesn’t disturb my faith in the truth of Genesis in any way, and in fact it increases my love for God and my appreciation of the glory of His creation.

Actually, the sudden appearance of trilobites is one of the greatest proofs that evolution is false.

I know that I'm going to sound nitpicky, but the biology teacher in me will not allow me to allow even a monor error to pass wothout comment. Technically, trilobites are not classfied as insects. They are in the same phylum as insects, along with spiders, scorpions, and crustaceans. They are, however placed in a separate class.

The sudden appearance of a particular type of fossil proves nothing. There are lots of possible explanations. eg

Ancestral forms have not yet been discovered.
Ancestral forms fossilised but their remains have been lost eg through erosion, subduction, etc.
Ancestral forms did not fossilise.

Incidentally, the type is not extinct. And they do not look so different to the woodlice and water slaters in my garden. But they are not insects.

The Cambrian Explosion, of which trilobites are a prominent example, is a major contradiction to Darwinism.

So were they created ex-nihilo?

I guess they were created from mud.

Even you, JP, acknowledge that the trilobite fossil on your desk is millions of years old. How do you reconcile this with the account of the bible's that the world is a little under 6000 years young?

Just accept that your ancestors were monkeys. It really is inline with Torah.

Just accept that God made you and you must listen to Him.
